MEET AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR KATE HEASLIP Born in Canada, Kate emigrated to Australia in 1984 where she raised a bunch of kids, a couple of dogs, a cat, a little yellow canary and accidentally poached an axolotl. She wrote her first book at age eight with Timmy Millard. It was a story of penguins living in the North Pole - a story of great adventure and zero fact. Since then Kate has published over 20 books. Some for family and friends alone and others for the general public. But what Kate loves more than anything is working along side others as they make their own books come to life. Kate is currently working in collaboration with childhood friends and neighbours to create a picture book that tells the story of growing up in a village in southern Ontario.
