The story behind the book, Maya's Magical Paintbrush author Ayla DeCastro illustrator: Ayla DeCastro

Eight-year-old Ayla has been making money creating book marks and making beds for family members since she was six. Her goal was to save money to support people who are living on the streets. Her piggy bank was beginning to get full.

Ayla's mum, contacted the Book Incubator because Ayla knew that she wanted to write a story about a child living rough painting the house that they wanted to live in. The From Storyboard to Print process began.

Ayla was one of the first children to try out our new From Storyboard to Print Kids Workbook-24 to record and plan her process.

Ayla wrote and re-wrote her story until she got it just how she wanted it, She drew and re-drew her pictures. She coloured them in and then, when she was ready, the book went into the studio for the Book Incubator to do its magic with page and cover design.
